The UTC regulates private, investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities in Washington. It is the commission's responsibility to ensure regulated companies provide safe and reliable service to customers at reasonable rates, while allowing them the opportunity to earn a fair profit.

Energy Decarbonization Pathways Examination RFP

The UTC issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) from teams, firms, or individuals interested in supporting the UTC's examination of practical and feasible decarbonization pathways for privately owned energy utilities in Washington state. This examination is required by the 2021-23 Omnibus Operating Appropriations Act in Senate Bill 5092, Section 143(4). Proposals were due Oct. 24 by 5 p.m.
