Public invited to comment on Avista and PSE Energy Plans
Lacey, Wash. - Avista and Puget Sound Energy customers will have the opportunity to comment to state regulators on the companies' proposed integrated resource plans (IRPs) for electric and natural gas service at two public comment hearings this week.

BACKGROUND
In 2020, Avista and Puget Sound Energy filed integrated resource plans (IRP) for electric and natural gas service, outlining energy supply and demand expectations for the next 20 years.
An IRP is a utility’s proposal on how it will meet current and projected energy needs at the lowest reasonable cost to the utility and its customers, including energy generation and conservation. UTC regulated energy utilities file these 20-year plans every two years.
Customers can view the draft IRPs for Avista in their electric IRP and natural gas IRP dockets. Puget Sound Energy IRPs are available in their electric IRP and natural gas IRP dockets.
The UTC regulates the rates and services of the state’s investor-owned electric and natural gas utilities, landline telephone companies, and private water systems among other industries. It is the commission’s responsibility to ensure regulated companies provide safe and reliable service to customers at reasonable rates, while allowing them the opportunity to earn a fair profit.
