Recycling 101

Recycling Changes in Washington

Changes in world markets are affecting recycling in our state. Companies are having a hard time selling recycled items. Because of this, you might see new charges on your bill.

To help lower these costs, follow the Four R's:

  • Reduce: Buy items with less packaging.
  • Recycle: Put the right items in your bin.
  • Reuse: Use items again instead of throwing them away.
  • Review: Check your service and change it if needed.

How to Recycle Right

Recycling is easy with curbside pick-up. Plastic, metal, and cardboard can be recycled. Make sure these items are clean and follow your local rules.

Your Service and Costs

Your recycling pick-up is part of your solid waste service. Most haulers charge a set monthly fee, no matter how much or little you use it. You pay this fee even if you do not put your bin out.
