Doing Business with the UTC
The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission is committed to fairness and equity in the spending of public funds. We want our contracting dollars to support a wide range of small, minority-, women-, or veteran-owned businesses in Washington state.
Supplier diversity is an important part of our work. We aim to remove barriers that prevent small and diverse businesses from participating in contracting opportunities with Washington State. We also work to make sure more businesses know about and can access these opportunities.
Free Certifications
The Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) helps small minority- and women-owned businesses obtain free certifications. Certifications increase contracting opportunities for small businesses with state and local governments. The business must be at least 51% minority-owned or women-owned to qualify.
OMWB offers certification programs for Federal and State contracts. For more details on the certification program, visit OMWBE.wa.gov.
Future Opportunities
The commission shares forecasts of our future spending to support small and diverse suppliers. These forecasts are made public for businesses that want to plan and compete for contracts with confidence:
