Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission
On June 13, 2011, Puget Sound Energy filed with the commission a tariff filing to increase its rates for electric and gas service to customers in Washington. The proposed filings provide for a general rate increase of $160.7 million or 8.1 percent for the electric tariffs and $31.9 million or 3.0 percent for the gas tariffs. The commission consolidated and suspended operation of the as-filed tariffs by Order 01 entered following the June 30, 2011, open meeting.
The commission held two public comment hearings in this matter. One on February 1, 2012 in Bellevue, and the other on February 15, 2012, in Olympia.
Further, the commission held evidentiary hearings in this matter beginning February 14, 2012, and continued through February 17, 2012.
By Order 03, the suspension date in this matter is May 14, 2012.
On May 7, 2012, the commission entered its final order 08, including Appendix C, D, and E. Order 08 rejects previously suspended tariff sheets PSE filed on June 13, 2011, and authorizes and requires PSE to file tariff sheets that will result in fair, just, reasonable and sufficient rates that will increase electric rates by approximately 3.2 percent and natural gas rates by approximately 1.3 percent.
