On March 19, 2014, Newaukum Water System (Newaukum or Company) filed with the commission an initial tariff filing in Docket UW-140445, which became effective on March 20, 2014.  The filing was made pursuant to a settlement agreement with commission staff (Staff) entered in Docket UW-132281 and approved by the commission on March 11, 2014.  The settlement agreement arose from a Staff investigation and complaint to determine whether the Company was subject to commission jurisdiction, issued on January 21, 2014.

Staff's initial review of the Company's financial information in Docket UW-140445 showed that the Company's current rates may generate more revenue than the Company requires to pay reasonable operating expenses and earn a reasonable return.  Thus, Newakum's rates may be unjust and unreasonable.

On September 11, 2014, the commission entered Order 01, Complaint Against Rates in Docket UW-143181.

The commission commenced an adjudicative proceeding in this matter and held a prehearing conference on October 23, 2014.  The commission also convened a prehearing conference in Docket UW-143330 at the same time as the prehearing conference in Docket UW-143181 for purposes of addressing consolidation of dockets UW-143181 and UW-143330.

On October 28, 2014, the commission entered Order 02 in Docket UW-143181 and Order 01 in Docket UW-143330, Prehearing Conference Order and Consolidation Order.

On December 11, 2014, the commission issued a notice scheduling a Status Conference for Monday, January 5, 2015, at 1:30 p.m., in commission hearing room 139. The notice also suspended all testimony deadlines.

On January 6, 2015, the commission issued a notice revising the procedural schedule and establishing a hearing for June 18, 2015.

On February 26, 2015, commission staff filed a settlement agreement between staff and the company.

On February 27, 2015, the commission issued a notice suspending the procedural schedule and cancelling the June 18, 2015, hearing.  The commission will conduct a hearing on the settlement agreement  on March 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., in the commission's hearing room, second floor, Richard Hemstad Building, 1300 S. Evergreen Park Drive S.W., Olympia, Washington.
