Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission
The Utilities and Transportation Commission is aware of Whatcom County's plans to address issues with solid waste service charges in Pt. Roberts. The commission does not have the authority to prevent basic service charges from appearing in property taxes, however the commission will continue to regulate the rates and services of Pt. Roberts solid waste service to ensure they are just and reasonable. If the county's plans do take place, commission's staff will conduct an audit of the company to make sure customers are being changed fair rates for its services.
