Transportation Safety

The commission provides safety oversight of privately-owned companies that provide transportation services in Washington, such as residential moving companies, airport shuttles, charter buses, commercial ferries and solid waste carriers.

Motor carrier safety staff conduct safety audits and inspect records related to vehicle maintenance, driver qualifications and drug and alcohol testing. Our staff also inspect vehicles used to provide service to the public, investigate complaints and help company operators understand and comply with state and federal safety requirements.
