Todd Willis d/b/a Save-A-Lot Moving TV-111385

On September 8, 2011, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (Commission) issued Order 02, Stipulated Initial Order; Classifying Respondent as Household Goods Carrier; Imposing and Suspending Portion of Penalty on Condition of Future Compliance (Order 02).  Order 02 classified Todd Willis d/b/a Save-A-Lot Moving (Save-A-Lot Moving or Company) as a household goods carrier.  The order also found that Save-A-Lot Moving had offered household goods moving services and advertised that the Company offered household goods moving services even though it did not possess the required certificate from the Commission to operate lawfully.  Order 02 ordered Save-A-Lot Moving to complete and file with the Commission, no later than November 7, 2011, an application for a households goods permit and imposed a fine of $4,000 for violation of RCW 81.80.070, all but $400 of which was suspended conditioned on Save-A-Lot Moving obtaining the required permit and abiding by all applicable laws and rules governing household goods movers in the state of Washington.

On October 13, 2011 Commission Staff issued a  letter providing  information that, if accurate, could demonstrate that Save-A-Lot Moving has been advertising that it conducts household goods moving services and is conducting household goods moves even though the Company has yet to obtain or apply for a household goods carrier permit.  Staff recommends that the Commission find Save-A-Lot Moving to be in violation of Order 02 and that the Commission impose the suspended portion of the penalty assessed in that order.
