There are currently unlicensed moving companies taking advantage of customers, holding goods hostage for large sums of money, and illegally inflating estimates. Before you hire a mover, confirm that they are permitted. The UTC ensures that permitted companies charge fair and proper rates, carry insurance and keep their vehicle safely maintained.

Damage Claims

The commission has limited control over damage claims. If you have filed a damage claim with your moving company, and they have not responded, contact the commission for assistance: fill out an online complaint form, call 1-888-333-WUTC (9882), or e-mail consumer@utc.wa.gov.

 

Complaints

If you have a dispute with your moving company, you should first try to resolve it with the company. Many disputes can be resolved by asking for a supervisor.
