Pat Hazzard to Lead UTC Safety and Consumer Protection Division
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Pat Hazzard, a human resources veteran, will lead the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission’s (UTC) public safety and consumer protection functions., Steven King, executive director of the UTC, announced today.
King said Hazzard, the new Director for Safety and Consumer Protection is a skilled leader who brings passion and a strong work ethic to her role. She is “empowering and supportive” of her co-workers and a “committed team player.”
“I’m excited to join the UTC. This is where I started my career 24 years ago. I look forward to serving citizens in ways that directly impacts their safety and their pocketbooks,” Hazzard said.
Hazzard served since 2008 as human resources director at the state Department of Revenue. Hazzard has held senior human resources positions at several state agencies, including the commission. She holds Bachelor and Masters’ of Arts degrees in communications from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
The UTC regulates the rates and services of telecommunications companies, investor-owned electric utilities, natural gas and water companies, garbage-collection haulers, household-goods movers and charter-bus companies, commercial ferries, pipeline companies, and a low-level radioactive waste repository.
